Beautiful weather contributed to a great weekend for those that attended Winterfest. The festival offered a variety of activities, workshops and events that appealed to all ages, as well as meals and snacks to satisfy every appetite. The highlight and closing event was the Polar Bear Dip, an event that I participated in... as a polar bear.

GROUNDHOG DAY
Predictions were unanimous: six more weeks of winter... to enjoy! At The Rosseau, staff participate in a special night of skating at the resort rink. It was thrilling to coach some of the Jamaican staff, who made their debut skating and despite the occasional crash, remained determined to continue on, reminiscent of their first Bobsled Team.

POND HOCKEY
Countless kids have played pond hockey in their youth and for some, the Pond Hockey Championships allow them to return to their roots. Teams converge to participate in several round robin matches on the multiple rinks. The tournament personifies the spirit of hockey and epitomizes the outdoor lifestyle and community spirit of many locals.

NATURE'S GALLERY
Armed with his first starter digital camera that he received as a Christmas gift, my youngest son, Stirling, accompanied me on a trip to Arrowhead Provincial Park. It was a beautiful sunny day and we spent the afternoon exploring the trails, impressed with several works of art sculpted in snow and ice, on exhibit in Nature's gallery.
